Some notes:
Mulberry Street:
Seuss rocked even back in the 1930s. Who knew?
Good Night, Gorilla:
So what if the concept was lifted from Curious George, the first primate to
pick the pocket of a zoo guard? It’s great fun.
Clap Your Hands:
Once you get over the bizarre interaction among the animals and humans, you
can’t put this down.
George Goes Fishing:
A quick read of a Curious classic.
Goodnight Moon:
Hall of Famer.
Going to Bed Book:
Boynton in The Zone.
Little Pig:
Hard to find, but joyful.
Show Me:
Underrated gem for the little ones.
Hungry Caterpillar:
Carle milks a few themes excessively for us, but this one works great.
Hop on Pop:
Hall of Famer.
Curious George…Pizza:
One of the slapped-together modern George books designed to milk the classic
series, but as an Italian-American, how could I quarrel with this one?
McDuff:
Darn if that dog isn’t cute, and the wife/mom is quite the homemaker. Wait
until you see what she whips up for the lady who brings McDuff home! Makes a
dad long for a bygone era.
Brown Bear:
Eric Carle comes through again.
Wocket:
It’s not Shakespeare, but it’s fun.
Little Wheels:
The boy was bored with this for a long time, then needed it every day, and
is now bored again. But it’s worth having on hand.
Teach My Dog:
I love this one more than my kid does.
Jesse Bear:
Not Earth-shattering, but consistently fun.
How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night?:
This book is big and fun. A semi-obscure gem.
Bear Snores On:
Another great big book with superb pictures. Fun!
Pat the Bunny:
Hall of Famer. |
