Full Time Father Blog (weekly, not daily)
Sunday, August 22, 2004
I can't get this blog to update...it's been weeks now...but I'll keep writing material periodically and hope that I figure it out someday.
My guy, while at the County Fair looking at a mommy pig with 7 baby piglets nursing at once:
"That pig has more nipples than [my mom friend who nurses her 5 month-old]."
We went to the Wiggles today in concert. My guy, 2/3 of the way through:
"When is it going to be over and can we go yet?"
Dollar for dollar, the County Fair was a far better value than the Wiggles, both for fun and for food, but I suspect as he talks about the Wiggles concert in coming days, he will remember it more fondly.
I say more power to those guys for getting so rich doing that stuff. My only beef is having them come on 20 minutes late. They are not the Rolling Stones--and the median age of their audience is 5. They should start on time, since we all have tried so hard to time the day perfectly.
But it was fun for me to see Wags the Dog in person.

My son pulled up his shirt this afternoon and started "nursing" his stuffed animal.
I was stunned for a moment, then realized he had spent the morning with one of my mom friends and her 5 month old baby.

On a vaguely-related note, I was in charge of 5 kids (age span 3-12) for 90 minutes yesterday. Nephews, nieces, and my son. My 8 year-old niece coined a term for me: "boy babysitter." Yes, they all laughed heartily.
I'm actually coming around to it. And the web address http://www.boybabysitter.com/ is still available....

I call them "mommy questions" (questions for mommy), and they are proliferating:
"Do ducks have teeth?"
"Why do we have TWO nostrils?"
He seems to be adept at finding the many gaps in my knowledge.
