Full Time Father is now closed. The final word, for dads and for moms, I will give to Newsweek, because it sums up so concisely my thinking (they are writing about infants but the statement, I would argue, holds throughout childhood):

"Children crave—and thrive on—interaction, one-on-one time and lots of eye contact."
